Activity on the golf course?

I received this comment from Adam Holden this morning. I am posting it with his permission:

Questions or comments? Heads up, two trucks in the parking lot at the golf course this morning loaded with fencing. Largely it looks like gates for blocking cart paths. When asked the driver of one of the trucks where it was being installed he didn’t know yet was waiting to hear from the customer.

It’s important to keep in mind that the new owners of the San Ramon Golf Club have made no application to the City of San Ramon to change to zoning from its present Golf Course/Agricultural to a zoning that would allow building.

This may be part of the work on the riparian habitat that is part of the Faria development. We’ll post updates as we find out more.

EDIT: more information from Adam:

I just spoke to the workers as this is going on all around my home. They were told it was to block off access to the golf course from the public at night. Very doubtful, if that was the case then they should/would install gates that match the current fencing. The ugly is starting.

Is anyone with Stay the Course contacting the city to make sure they are following all codes to the letter?

I have seen people golfing when I drive by on Alcosta so it doesn’t look like he has shut down the whole golf course yet.

I spoke with a young man who was installing the fencing on Burning Tree, and he told me the fencing is temporary and that United (company installing the fencing) only installs temporary fencing. When I asked him why, he did not know, but he wanted me to know he was only doing his job, and he’s right. I also called the course and was told that it is all part of the “construction” that is already being done on the other parts of the course. Hmmmm, don’t think that’s true, but that’s all he knew.

The course is getting ready to shut. Very little upkeep being done to the course. I’ll miss the course, but I don’t have a problem with wide-open brown spaces that are rife with wildlife. Brown grass allowed to grow wild beats a 2-story condo in your back yard every single time.

Ron-Do you live on the course? We live on the 3rd hole and we are experiencing the usual upkeep of the course. In fact, up until the storms last week, the course has never looked better. Who knows….They may very well be getting ready to shut down, but I have not seen any decline in the maintenance of the course.

No, I don’t live on the course but I do play the course with my kid.

Grass is definitely green and lots of it. Fingers are crossed that the course stays open, but my gut says otherwise under current ownership.

I will miss the course but i think it is the right decision.

It seems that they are closing the entire course. There is an area to get from the trail to homes and to get to the homes, one has to go through course. Seems there’s fencing and put up there too. Does anybody know the status of course closure? Has steering committee been in contact with golf course ownership to determine what’s going on?

Why hasn’t there been an update for more than a month? We will need to compel the entire community to discuss things openly at the city — not quietly as a small group representing Stay the Course.
